Just Another WIPpet Wednesday…

So I’ve restarted this post at least 4 different times. At first I was going to talk about how Bug is teething. Then I was going to talk about all the TV shows I’ve caught up on while I’ve been working from home. Or how hard and stressful house hunting is. And there was something else, but I’ve since forgotten.

Anywho, regardless of the subject, I would get a few sentences in and then stop because I couldn’t think of what else to say.

I’m exhausted, and I have no focus as a result.

I’m also pretty sure the seasonal yuck is trying to dig it’s claws in to me too, but so far I’ve managed to avoid it with a lot of orange juice.

But at least I managed to get some writing done before this, whatever this is, hit. Which is good, because I’ve run out of the fanfic rewrite sequel to share. Anywho, here is some more of the Descendants. This takes place in chapter 4 – The Bridezilla, Felicity, has finally dragged the bridal party in the chapel to rehearse for the big day, Vivian and the others take advantage of a lull in the drama to chat a little. So since today is the 15th, here is fifteen paragraphs.

“And what do you think?” Audra turned to Matthew.

“Hm?” He glanced up from his phone to find himself the center of attention.

“Everyone else seems to think my Mom is crazy. What do you think? If you were getting married again, wouldn’t you want everything to be perfect?”

Again? He had been married? Vivian stared at Matthew in surprise.

“From what I understand, the groom doesn’t have a say – he just shows up.”

“But you said you were…”

“I did and I was, but that doesn’t mean there was a wedding.” He glanced at Vivian, then back at his phone. “It was more of a justice of the peace thing.”

“Oh.” Audra fell silent. She returned to her flash cards, a faint pink blush tinting her cheeks.

Vivian waited until she was sure her soon to be sister was completely engrossed in her studies once more before commenting on this new revelation about the puzzle that was Matthew Bayranger. “I never pegged you for the married type.”

The corners of his lips curled upwards. “It didn’t last long. She left me.”

“Why?”

“She had better things to do.”

“Like?”

“Save the world.” Again there was that little twitch of a smile. He tucked his phone into the pocket of his pants, and focused his attention on Vivian. Gone was the sadness from his eyes, and his expression was no longer friendly and boyish. Instead his gaze was intense, challenging, daring her to ask more questions.

Before she could though, the force that was Felicity returned…

The hard thing about writing this story, is trying not to reveal too much early on. I want to leave breadcrumbs, but I constantly worry that I’m leaving giant french loaves instead. Or maybe those giant braided loaves that the bakery at Knott’s Berry Farm sells around Christmas.

And now I worry that even saying that is saying too much.

But frankly, I’m too tired to care.

I admit, I was a little confused at the beginning, but I think it might just be that I don’t remember the context of this situation. I love their back and forth, and I wonder what exactly his ex was doing that she had to save the world. Was that literal? Very interesting.

Mmm, now I want to go to a bakery.

This is really interesting glimpse into the characters; I like that it was just assumed that being married = big wedding and that Matthew shot that down. I don’t blame him for getting a bit intense with all the questions being fired at him.

    Bread. Yum.

Oh, um, wait, that’s not why I’m here. Love the easy and realistic flow to this conversation. And the little details to show us how he’s trying not to listen, yet listening, and then… Dang Vivian.
