The Liebster Award

I was given a Liebster award by a good friend, Jewel E Leonard. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I’ve actually been looking forward to these questions ever since you tagged me in your original post.

The Liebster award is an award for new bloggers (those with fewer than 3,000 followers) to help us find new followers and friends in the blogging world. The rules are:

1. Thank the blogger that nominated you
2. Answer the 11 questions that the blogger gave you
3. Nominate 5-11 bloggers that you think deserve the Liebster Award
4. Let the bloggers know about their nomination
5. Give them 11 questions they should answer

What book (written by someone else) do you want to see turned into a movie/TV show? (Bonus points for casting characters!)

Dragonriders of Pern needs to be a TV show, like, NOW.

They’ve actually been talking about doing a TV show or a movie for several years now, and it seemed like it had really gained some steam recently. Unfortunately there hasn’t been an update in several months.

What’s the dream cast for one of your projects? (Bonus points for including pictures!)

Let’s go with the Descendants! In order of appearance…

  • Vivian Palmer is played by Lily James (though Jennifer Lawrence would be good too)
  • Felicity is played by Jane Seymour
  • Adam Palmer is played by Dennis Quaid
  • Michael Bayranger is played by William Shockley (though for a very long time it was Jeff bridges)
  • Matthew Bayranger is played by Jai Courtney. But Tom Hardy has the broody looks down pat.
  • Audra is played by Sarah Bolger
  • Tesni is played by Natalie Dormer

Once the girls reach roman times…

  • Caelia is played by Emilia Clarke
  • Marcus Antionius Agrippa is played by Theo James
  • Felix Aurelius Aquila is played by Kellan Lutz
  • Caius is played by Angus Macfadyen
  • Pliny the Younger is Matt Smith

What line have you written recently that made you laugh out loud?

Tesni rolled her eyes and responded by shoving her own knee into a rather sensitive part of his anatomy. Her attack had the desired response, for the guest yelped and pulled away.

He groaned, cupping himself, or protecting himself from further attack -it was hard to tell. “Vesta? What the… Why?”

Tesni sat up and glared at him. “Do I look like Vesta to you?”

He paled, gulping. “No, no you are not.”

Who do you think was the absolute perfect casting in a movie/TV show adaptation of a book? (More bonus points for including pictures!)

Matthew Macfadyen as Mr Darcy in Pride and Prejudice. I know many people prefer Colin Firth’s Mr Darcy, but there’s just something about that scene when Matthew Macfayden walks through the mist with his coat billowing out behind him. It gets me in the feels every time.

What’s the highest compliment you’ve received on your writing?

I actually had a fan of my fanfic write a short fanfic of my fanfic when I hadn’t updated in awhile. It was only a couple of paragraphs long, and it basically consisted of the characters sitting on a beach and wondering why I hadn’t written about them in awhile.

The worst insult I ever received was someone telling me that I should let another author take over my fanfic and ghost write it for me since I wasn’t updating as often as she would like.

What’s your favorite part of writing?

The escapism. I love my life, but the short vacations I take in different worlds while I write are so refreshing.

What book have you read more than once? (Fess up: how many times?  Bonus points for a purchase link!)

Dragonsong and Dragonsinger by Anne McCaffrey. The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley is another favorite.

How do you handle having written yourself into a corner?

I usually edit and edit some more until I figure my way out of it. Sometimes it works. Most of the time it just makes the situation worse. In the latter situation, I just ignore it until my brain is able to figure out a way to resolve it (which usually means more editing)

What kind of villain is your favorite (to read/to write)?

The tortured villain. Where they have a perfectly good reason for why they are the way they are and why they are doing what they’re doing – even if it’s totally and completely wrong.

Sexy villains are pretty nice too. Or the ones who just delight in being bad. I’m looking at you Loki.

Which book has been a guilty-pleasure read?

Meg Cabot’s Abandon. I’ve been a big fan of her since The Princess Diaries, and Abandon is just as enjoyable. Unfortunately it was over far too quickly. The next book in the series, Underworld, had the same problem. I haven’t had a chance to read the last one yet.

If you could pick a super power to have, which would it be and why?  (Extra bonus points for somehow applying this to your writing/reading!)

Telekinesis. It would save so much time if I could just think of what I want to write, and have the words magically appear on the computer screen.

I would tag people, but I think almost everyone I wanted to has already been tagged. Also, I’m a little too tired at the moment to think of questions. So, if you’d like to participate, feel free to copy the questions Jewel E Leonard gave me and answer them on your own blog!
